How can digital scents be activated?
We offer over 200 digital scents (including unique scents exclusive to Olorama like gunpowder, burnt tire, and fuel oil). The digital scent diffuser connects via ethernet, with options for control through UDP messaging (API), Unity, DMX, iOS app, or even voice commands. Digital scents can also be synchronized with video content. Imagine a film where a scene shows cheese, and the digital aroma diffuser releases a rich Parmesan scent—our Italian cheese scent is created from authentic Parmesan Reggiano.
Are they like printer cartridges but with smells?
Our patented fragrance emitter technology makes replacing any of the 10 scent cartridges as simple as a “click” (see here). The digital scents we use are derived from hyper-realistic essential oils. To order new scents, simply go online; delivery takes 5 days in Spain and 10 days internationally. Although cartridges are not refillable, clients can send in custom scents to have them incorporated into their digital scent diffuser.
How long does the digital scent linger?
Scents from our fragrance emitters last between 30 seconds and 5 minutes, depending on intensity, which can be configured in our system. Scents like burning wood, fresh-cut grass, or Parmesan cheese each have unique linger times. Generally, scents that don’t trigger a survival instinct (like rotten odors) are more volatile, while those that do are more enduring. Switching between scents typically takes 30-45 seconds, but various factors may affect this.
