Grasse: an awakening of the senses

Grasse is the international capital of perfume. Located at the Provence, near Mediterranean sea: 14km far from Cannes and 30 of the Nice airport.

Perfume is an identity sign of the Grasse city, which attracts every year to thousands of tourists&professionals. Among the 200 perfumers in the world, 40 come from Grasse…

And all thanks to an important flower culture which raised due to a particular microclimate. With a warm weather, and humidity provided by the Mediterranean sea, this zone is ideal for flower cultivation which are essential ingredients of fine perfumes: roses, jasmine, carnation, violets, blossom… Jasmine is one of the most typical flowers in Grasse, and was introduced in Europe in the XVII century, coming from India. Nowadays between 2 and 3 Kg of jasmine is collected everyday (1kg results in 8000 flowers). All they are part of the essence extraction for different perfumers. There are many different events around flowers. Among others: The party of the jasmine, the first weekend in August; Exporose, in May…

Nuits Parfumées (Perfumed nights)

Grasse, in collaboration with the Internacional Perfume Museum, provide to visitors many summer activities including spectacles, exhibitions and events where the perfume is essential. Special nights in the perfume capital: scented rides through the historic center where you can feel the smell of the jasmine, roses or blossom… Also the visitor can enjoy different shows in the park with fine scents… Concerts… Theatre…

But also the famous “Scented nap (siesta)”, in different parts of the cities: in some squares or at the “Jardin des Orangers”… Here you can find loungers where you can relax and enjoy the sight and, more important, different scents (each part of the year is focused on a particular fragance). Nuits Pargumées is an original concept, ¡an awakening of the senses!
